Assignment 17 - Hunter Cole

One of my favorite directors is Wes Anderson. Some of his movies include The Royal Tenenbaums, Life Aquatic, Moonrise Kingdom, and Fantastic Mr. Fox. I will be comparing Fantastic Mr. Fox and Moonrise Kingdom because they are the most similar of the bunch.
One can usually recognize a Wes Anderson movie after seconds of watching it. The colors of the scenes are gloomy with brown, orange, and yellow sets. Foxy is obviously orange and he wears a cute little corduroy suit. His house is a tree so it is brown and the walls are orange and gloomy. Most of the other characters either have something brown or orange to do with them. The only other major color is grey, like the fox Kristofferson and the opossum Kylie. Suzy in Moonrise kingdom has a similar orange hair color, and her home is orange. The scenes in both movies are often symmetrical.
What makes Anderson's movies most discernible are the camera shots. The often pan and stop suddenly, or rise and fall with the action. There is also a lot of fast zoom on characters' faces. At some point in every one of his movies, Anderson employs slow motion; often at the end or after something big happened.
