The concept of good and evil is
subject to one’s opinion. The basis of what is right and wrong comes from
religion or natural law. Every religion shares common moral principles
including: honesty, integrity, fidelity, generosity, justice, and tolerance. Someone
that contains these character ethics would be an example of the “good.”
There is no fine line that says
something is right or wrong so it is up to interpretation. These moral
principles act as standards for what is right but do not tell us when we have
crossed this line.
People are not put on this earth to
be strictly good or evil. One’s experiences and childhood shapes their
personality and beliefs. Growing up in a troubled or rough environment impacts your moral standards and personality. Another factor is
your parents. Their ideals and actions are reflected upon you and shape you as
a person as well.
In conclusion, we are not predestined to be either good or
evil but influenced by our family and the people we surround ourselves with.
