I’d like for a stronger explanation of how everything we do
in class helps us develop our skills. I understood by the end of the year, but
I’d like a stronger tie in to everything. I understood that all the blogs
helped us to write so that we didn’t forget the skill. I realized that reading
the long packets gave us an overview of what to do. I figured that Writing With Style would not teach us
how to write, only how to refine on some things. I discovered that practicing
the timed-writings and then trudging through reading exposed us to good and bad
writing. But this all came from later reflection. If I knew what I was getting
into, and I was told how this would tie in with everything, I might have been
more motivated to be more active and therefore learn better. Besides an
explanation for everything, I feel like the class is solid. I don’t know how
visual literacies fit in exactly though. Some of the visual literacy assignments
were enjoyable to do, but others were not as much. I think that since visual
things, especially videos, are becoming the primary medium to spread an idea,
you want us to understand how to work with it, but I think that we need more
help with those things.
