Blog Post 26 - Daniel Brewer

As a person on the Autism Spectrum, communication of all kinds – written, spoken, social cues etc. - is difficult for me on a daily basis.  In AP Language and Comp, I thought that the “No-No” words list was especially helpful because it gave me easy, logical rules to try to follow.  I also thought that learning to argue to a specific audience with a basic knowledge of the subject matter was effective.  This helped me to write things in a more concise manner, without too much detail.  I thought that the writing portion of the AP Exam for Language and Comp was difficult because I always struggle with organizing my thoughts before writing them down on paper.  One thing Mr. Logsdon taught me that was helpful with getting organized was to be sure to read the question first before trying to answer and to annotate the articles as I read them.  I found this advice helpful in other classes as well, and I tried to use this strategy on the AP US History exam, too.  Also, I thought in the beginning I would really like the bikes in class.  But, in the end, I’m not sure how effective they were with helping keep me on track and keep me focused.
