Good and evil are in a gray area. People and their actions
are evaluated by society and categorized according to the morals and values.
Some actions are universally immoral, like killing, raping, and stealing, while
some actions are universally moral, like almsgiving, volunteering, and
sacrificing for the community. Then there are acts of terrorism, which to the
victims seem nefarious, but to the attackers seem justified and good. Nations
go to war and justify the killing of combatants and civilians, but fundamentally,
they are all humans. There’s the hypothetical moral dilemma of a husband
stealing medicine for a sick wife. In certain regions of China, people capture,
sell, kill, and eat dogs at festivals, but in the United States, everyone
agrees that it is disgusting on a range of levels. In all of these examples,
there’s some level of good morality and some level of evil morality, whether it
be a difference of perspective or of values.
