Beloved Possessions
I don't remember the first time I read Calvin and Hobbes, but I do know I was about four and that my dad was the first person to read it to me. This developed into a love for the comic strip about a rude, snotty, but good hearted and clever 6 year old boy and his wise tiger friend, Hobbes. My brother and I have collected these books over the years, and now have every single Calvin and Hobbes book imaginable. I now store all of them in a drawer in my dresser. Every now and then I take some out and read them and feel extreme nostalgia. My favorite series of strips are the ones when Hobbes shaves Calvin's head and Calvin has to explain to his mother that his stuffed tiger gave him a haircut. When I'm a father, I'll give my children all of these hilarious and heart-warming books, and I hope that they'll appreciate them as much as I did.
