Assignment 7 - Daniel Brewer

On October 1, Ford Motor Company finished the first production line Model T.
This is an important historical event because the Model T was a car that was affordable, reliable, and popular with many people. The Model T was made popular by the ad campaigns claiming that “No car under $2000 offers more, and no car over $2000 offers more than trimmings.” This was advertised to mean that the Model T was a great car for its price range. The more consumers that bought the car, the more cars would have to be made to keep up with demand. The production line was created to solve this issue.
The influences the Model T had on the world were great. At the time of its production, the Model T was the only car in production by the Ford Motor Company. This meant that the production lines and their workers only had one individual car model to focus on, eliminating an excess of parts for an underperforming model. The production lines themselves were also revolutionary, because it meant that each worker had to focus on only one task and repeat it, as opposed to having to know how every part of every car worked and how to put them all together, which would be a lot more stressful and complicated. The production line made automobile manufacturing more efficient, making thousands of cars per week in 1924, the peak time of the Model T.
This is a major important event because the creation of the production line affected most other production plants, in that manufacturing objects became lots easier. The production line is important to me and my existence, because my mom works as an accountant for a logistics company that deals with the logistics of getting cars off the production line, and to the dealerships where they can be sold to consumers. The Model T sparked the usage of production lines in other industries, and many products we buy today are a result of production lines, which became popular mainly due to the Model T.
