Assignment 7 Hunter Cole

On October 9, 2006 North Korea tested out their first nuclear bomb. This was the start of our tensions with North Korea because they demonstrated their power to destroy the United States. This date was very scary to me, I was afraid that it meant North Korea was going to blow up my house. My parents told me that they watched it on CNN and they were afraid that we were going to war with North Korea. The event struck fear into Americans and the rest of the world. North Korea now was a force to be reckoned with, and no one knew what they would do with their nuclear bombs. North Koreans saw the day as noteworthy because they were establishing themselves as a threat. The nuclear bomb is often used as a display of power, but if they are actually put into use it would result in mutually assured destruction.
