Assignment 7 - Kassidy Stumbo

On September 27, 1940, representatives from Germany, Italy, and Japan met in Berlin to sign the Tripartite Pact. This formalizing of the Axis Powers was intended to keep neutral America out of the war - it was terrible for the world. Although the governments of these three countries claimed it was designed to keep a lasting peace, it had the exact opposite effect. The war had already begun a year earlier, but the attempt to keep America from entering the war severely hurt the Allied powers. This kept the U.S. out of World War II for a little more than a year until Japan attacked Pearl Harbor. In that time, thousands and thousands were killed. In total, 60 million people lost their lives during WW2. Germany, a member of the Axis powers, began this war in a power struggle on the European continent. The members of the Axis powers enslaved citizens all over Europe and Asia, invading numerous countries. I certainly loathe this event for obvious reasons.
