Assignment 7 - MacKenzie Varble

The event I chose probably isn't considered "historical", but it has been extremely influential throughout time. Walt Disney World was opened on October 1, 1971. This event has set new standards in safety and employment. It also provided an extremely child and family friendly amusement park in the eastern half of the United States. Disney World's opening has also had a role in boosting Florida's income due to tourism. It has also provided thousands of jobs to Florida residents. This was also a gateway for opening international parks. Since 1971, the Walt Disney Company has opened four more parks. These parks are in Paris, Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Tokyo. Because the company saw so many international travelers in Disney World, they decided it would be beneficial to open parks overseas. The company has also opened a resort on Oahu, HI. I love the fact that Disney World opened, because it has affected my childhood and adolescence in such a positive way that I don't know what my life would be like without it happening.
