Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays because it
involves family and mass amounts of food (doesn’t get better than that.) Ever
since my siblings flew off to college, home life isn’t the same and not nearly
as fun. Thanksgiving gives me the chance to spend time with my loverly siblings
and reconnect. Thanksgiving in the Ueland house is always filled with
preparation for the lunch/dinner that awaits us. It also includes some type of
physical activity because what’s a Ueland family function without exercise?
This year we ran a 5k (which I had the pleasure of running into the Log Dog
himself) and in past years we have played soccer at Henry Clay. My dad is the
master chef of the house so he does all the hard work while is stand there and
look pretty. I have very little cooking abilities so I am normally stuck with
the arduous work of polishing the silver. My strangest memory happened this
year. We always invite Jevic’s family over for Thanksgiving dinner because they
are practically family. Jevic’s sister, Merdi, is social media obsessed. She
always snapchats the meals and this year she made our family do the mannequin
challenge. If you knew my parents you would know how out of the loop they are and
how terrifying it would be to watch them pose while jamming to Black Beetle.
That has by far been my weirdest, but funniest Thanksgiving memory.
