Assignment 9: Joshua Pe

No, no such thing as a time for war. Violence is never the answer. Fighting, maiming, and killing are apprehensible things, therefore why does doing it in “times of crisis” change anything? Morally, killing is killing. I am not a religious person, but I agree with the 10 commandments that murder is one of the disgusting sins.

If under attack and when it becomes necessary to defend, perhaps a country is allowed to go to war. The conflicting countries need to end the war as quickly as possible and with as little death toll as possible however.

Instead of war, all international conflicts ought to be hashed out in gentlemanly duels, except without the guns or swords or death. Two countries ought to agree on terms of winning/losing and on some sport/game where their representatives can clash. Ping-pong diplomacy in Forrest Gump is a great example of two nations, China and the United States, exchanging friendly serves and smashes, not missiles and bullets. If North and South Korea are escalating arguments and closing in on a dangerous war, they ought to play Street Fighter or basketball with their best people. The conflicts can be resolved through non-violent means and without the casualties and deaths of millions if nations chose duels over wars.
